Living in the gorgeous pacific northwest means year-round marathon events, a lot
of outside activity and a general awareness of what it takes to live a healthy life.
I can work with you to ease existing injuries to bring your performance to its optimum
potential. Men and women can benefit greatly from the body maintenance that massage
provides.
As a Licensed Massage Practitioner (LMP) I love doing Swedish relaxation massage
with bits of Lomi Lomi here and there. I am specially certified in pre-pregnancy,
pregnancy and postpartum massage. In my 20 years of doula work, I have learned much
about the particular stress of the expectant mother as well as the importance of
proper care during post partum and beyond. I love working with women in all phases
of life!
I’ve been married since 1987 and am mother of two extraordinary kids. I’m very involved
in Waldorf education and have run my own Waldorf parent/child program since 2004.
I’ve lived in Kenmore for close to 20 years and invite you to come enjoy my lovely
massage studio at The Parsonage in Kenmore!

Massage while pregnant can help you cope with many of the aches and pains you are
experiencing as your body makes room for your little one. As a long time doula,
Child Birth Educator and mother of two, I understand the joys and frustrations of
pregnancy.
Massage in pregnancy helps to:
- Reduce your stress and promote relaxation
- Relieve headaches
- Promote a good night's sleep
- Reduce excess fluid retention
- Ease constipation, gas and heartburn
- Increase flexibility, helping your body make room for your little one
- Relieve pain in the muscles and joints of your legs, lower back and upper back
- Reduce muscle cramps
- Prepare for labor by increasing your body awareness
I can help you:
- Prepare for labor by teaching you the tools that doulas use
- Make plans for a more restful postpartum
- Manage a high risk pregnancy with a house visit*
- By offering massage during labor to ease the transition from pregnancy to postpartum
- Adjust to your postpartum body with massage and doula care
*Massage appointments in pregnancy are best matched with your OB/GYN – Midwife appointments
to increase are your child’s birth approaches. High risk pregnancies require your
doctor/midwife’s release - no exceptions. It is recommended your doctor/midwife
know of your massage appointments to make recommendations for your care and help
foster a team environment.

Today expectant women have many choices as to how they will become prepared for
childbirth. Through-out my years of being a birth and postpartum doula I’ve seen
the growth of hospital programs (you may take as many classes as your money and
time will allow) and have been surprised to see the arrival of online childbirth
classes. Sitting in a large group, or at a computer, may suit some personalities,
but for many couples that simply is not desirable.
Based on my book, Blooming Birth, my private childbirth education classes
offer you the following benefits:
- Classes are tailor-fit to YOU and your partner
- We meet at The Parsonage; a comfortable home-like setting
- Hand-outs aren’t random, but chosen for you and your partner based on your concerns
- You and your time are respected
- You will leave the class with a birth plan that represents your wishes, and an understanding
of how and why those wishes must stay flexible
- You will be given many "tools" to cope with labor (the tricks that doulas use)
- All childbirth instruction will be given with an eye to postpartum recovery
- The classes aren’t lecture style. You will be constantly participating and forming
the day
- We will move, talk and most likely laugh as you move toward growing your family

Sometimes our schedules don’t allow us a couple of hours, even if we are experiencing
discomfort or we know we need to relax. Often our budgets dictate how frequently
we can receive massage. And it’s always a challenge for parents to justify getting
a babysitter so that they can take care of themselves with a massage.
Seated massage at The Parsonage addresses all of these very real issues.
When you book a seated massage with me, you will sit (fully clothed) on my comfortable
(if somewhat odd looking) massage chair. I will address your primary concerns as
you relax for a few minutes or longer. Should you have your child along, she/he
can play right next to you in our Waldorf inspired playroom, with toys inspired
by nature. Babies sleep and coo happily being near to mama, and you can relax too.
Seated massage can be a wonderful "quick fix" (especially for lower back issues
in pregnancy and postpartum, and nursing strains in postpartum) and a great "in-between"
maintenance massage until your next full-body massage. You choose how long it will
last, and with no re-dressing to do, you are then happily out the door. Book a Seated
massage today and see how convenient taking care of yourself can be!
